Our People are our Strength

Over the last 50 years CM has built on its success year after year due to our quality of people.  Many of these people have started at various levels in the organization and moved up to new roles to help us continue to be successful.  This process has been very successful but can limit growth if our personnel resources are unable to keep up with our physical expansion rate.  In 2016 we added two brand new locations in Homestead and Sarasota, FL.  More expansions are expected as the construction economy continues to improve.


Construction Materials now employs over 300 people and operates 18 branches in 6 states. With just another 10% growth this would equate to 28 more people needed to maintain our level of service that our market requires.  Some of our most successful employees have started and occupied multiple positions in their 20-30 years of being part of the CM Team.

To fill our future needs at all levels of the organization CM has embarked on a new tactic of recruitment.   We are actively recruiting on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.  We are targeting those currently enrolled in their Concrete Industry Management program.  This program focuses on Concrete Management including on-site training in Redi-mix yards, testing companies and industry manufacturers of concrete related products.

This is focused on the MTSU campus but not limited to this program.  We are also interested in other similar programs and recent graduates with a variety of skills that can help fill our needs in future as a company. We have also been working with the University of North Florida in their Building Construction Management Program.


In a typical year CM employs 1-4 interns across the company. The Construction Materials Internship is designed to allow the Intern to learn many aspects of working with a commercial distributor.

Our interns will become a valuable part of our local branch team during their time and are able to gain a complete understanding our business.  This will give the Intern an opportunity to evaluate their desire to become a long term member of the Construction Materials team after graduation.  At CM will be able to see which candidates are a good fit to bring into our organization and invest in our Sales & Management training program after they graduate.

Sales & Management Training Program

This program is designed to allow the qualified candidates to enter into our organization slowly and understand all aspects of our operations before moving into the Sales or Operations areas of CM.  All candidates will undergo a minimum of one full year of training in various levels of the organization.  These levels include:

  • Truck Driver /Delivery
  • Rebar line labor
  • Warehouse support
  • Logistics
  • Counter Sales
  • Rebar Detailing / quoting
  • Inside Sales & Operations

After one year in these different positions these recruits will then be integrated into the local branch that they were trained or in some cases transferred to another branch that may need additional support.
